Hi Kerrie, 'Originated when the Newcastle Wallsend Coal Company established two rows of houses near its mine 12 kilometres west of Newcastle, and rented them to its employees and their families on a weekly basis.' It is listed with one T in Pit not two. There is another one listed too (at Hamilton).
