    3. Hullo, I'm new to this list, having discovered in this List's Archives (for 2000!) that one line of my family turned up in this area. George KNIGHT & Euphemia SMITH married 17 Apr 1820 Liberton Midlothian. Their family (if not them themselves) must have emigrated bet 1841 and 1851. They turn up in Kemsey, lived, married and buried there - unsure of my geography but several are buried in Commandant Hill. >From the partial index of the Macleay Chronicle on the web, I can see that a daughter Euphemia KNIGHT (d c1911) married a John FERRIER, another daughter Lillias KNIGHT (d c1910) married William Thomas DANGAR, a third daughter Grace KNIGHT died unmarried, and a son George KNIGHT d c1912 - marital status unknown. In the IGI, Lillias KNIGHT is given as Lillian WRIGHT. This is incorrect - the marriage of Lillias KNIGHT & William Thomas DANGAR was announced in an Edinburgh newspaper, her father being given as George KNIGHT of Little France. This identifies Lillias with certainty. The 2000 posting in this list concentrated on the DANGAR side. My 3xgtgdparents John PENTLAND & Ann KNIGHT farmed at Little France, Liberton, Midlothian for many years. Ann KNIGHT was George KNIGHT's sister. I think George KNIGHT & Euphemia SMITH were the last of my line at Little France (where he was a publican in 1841). I want to find out why they were the last. I understand there is an obituary in the Macleay Chronicle (date unsure - 1912?) which might (doubt it!) throw some light on the reason for emigration. Failing that, looking for clues why the family emigrated, and any memories of their time in Little France, Liberton. Possibly someone has more extensive info than I have noted above. Howard Geddes

    3. Hi Howard, Jenny here from the ABN and other lists that you are on. Give me time during the day and I will see what I can find for you. The DANGARs were a very well known and respected family in the north and north west of the State of NSW also holders of large parcels of land. You will be looking for the family in KEMPSEY, I have checked one immigration resource 'no go', will check others when I come home this afternoon. Probably try browsing the archives of the AUS-NSW-NORCO (north coast) list too. Kempsey is located between Newcastle and Brisbane on the east coast (two Main cities found on any map). Regards Jenny
