Good morning Listers, I am helping my cousin to solve the mystery of her great great grandparents two Irish Catholic immigrants, Thomas KING and Mary PLUNKETT. Their names are quite common and for awhile it proved difficult to pin point them. However, after some searching I found a Thomas KING arriving on the Bounty immigrant ship the "Forth" 18th September, 1841. He was 20 years of age from Kilmany, County Clare, Ireland. His parents were Michael and Nanny KING (does anyone know what Nanny is short for?). I also found a Mary PLUNKETT also an Irish immigrant arriving on the Bounty ship Adam Lodge in 1840. Mary was 16 years of age a housemaid and Child's maid from Kilmanham, Dublin Ireland. Her parents were Edward PLUNKETT and Judy MILES. The Thomas KING and Mary PLUNKETT I am researching were married in 1841, (it would have had to be after the arrival of the "Forth" on 18th Sept 1841, if I have the correct Thomas and Mary) at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Sydney. It is only last week when I started to look into this family, so at the moment I do not have any copies of BDM certificates. Two children I am sure are Thomas and Mary KING's and they are John KING born circa 1843 and Jane KING born circa 1845. The family appear to have settled in Patrick's Plain (Muswellbrook). I am sure there were more children born to the couple, however it is difficult to be sure, which children are theirs. Or maybe Mary died? Here are the marriages of the know children John and Jane. John KING and Mary Jane Genieviece McCarthy - Patrick Plains:- Thomas and Mary KING's son John King married Mary Jane Geneviece McCarthy (born circa 1845) in 1864 at Patrick Plains and they had four children Thomas Edmund King, Callaghan J King, Lucy M King and Catherine King. Mary Jane Geneviece King (nee McCarthy) died in 1921 aged 76, her death was registered at Petersham. Her husband John died in 1922 also his death was registered in Petersham. John King and Mary Jane King (nee McCarthy) in the 1903 Electoral Roll are living at 140 Hereford Street, Forest Lodge. Jane KING and William WILD - Patrick Plains: - Thomas and Mary KING's daughter Jane King married William WILD in 1862 at Patrick Plains. Between 1863 and 1887 William and Jane WILD had 12 children, their births registered in Muswellbrook, Murrurundi and Patrick Plains. William and Mary in the 1903 Electoral Roll are living at Jerry's Plains. Jane WILD (nee KING) died in 1936 at the age of 91, her death was registered in Singleton. I am hoping that SKS on the List, may know of this KING family or be related to them. Maybe, it can be confirm that the Thomas KING and Mary PLUNKETT the Irish Bounty Immigrants, are the right parents of the known children John and Jane. We have not been able to establish when Thomas and Mary KING (nee PLUNKETT) who settled in Patrick's Plains died or where they are buried.
