    1. [HV] New Google search option - handy tool for family history researches
    2. Ian Jordan
    3. Hi Listers This is a little off topic but I thought it might interest family history researchers. Google has introduced a feature which may be a boon to those doing historical searches. 1. Conduct a search and the results page will load as before. 2. Now look at the top left hand side of the results page. Just under the Google logo there is a link "Show Options" Click on that and a left side bar of option will be visible. 3. Look down the list to the Group "Standard view" and the last option is "Timeline". When you click on that, Google looks within the pages it has found for you for dates and then orders the pages in date order. This is not the date the page was created (you can sort them in that order if you wish using another option) but the date mentioned in the page, Try it for yourself and you'll see what I mean. Handy, eh? Of course, this is done by an algorithm and isn't exactly surgical, but useful nonetheless. Regards Ian Jordan
