    3. Hello, I was wondering if someone could do a look up for me Please, although I am not sure if it was in the Maitland Mercury. Are all inquest's put in the papers? On the death certificate of Ignatius HARTCHER it says Inquest held Melville 26 Dec 1872. coroner: Thomas Pearse. Thanks in advance. Pauline

Hi Pauline Some 10 years ago the Maitland Family History Circle published a couple of books on local inquests The death of Ignatius HARTCHER is listed and has info on this Inquest held Melville 26 Dec 1872. Verdict was death from disease of the heart / old age Bye MargM Hunter Valley List Admin

    3. Dear Pauline, Rod and Wendy GOW have indexed a lot of the papers from that area. Google their name and you might be lucky to find a reference in their index. Not all Inquests were published to the best of my knowledge, but there are papers held for some (not all survived) at State Records, KINGSWOOD. Have a look at Archives in Brief No. 4 on www.records.nsw.gov.au which deals with Inquests. You do however have to be at Kingswood to ask if the file survived. Serious ones were kept, such as Murder.
