As this is in 1827, perhaps there might be a chance that they were still with him a year later in 1828, in which case they might appear with him in the 1828 census. I'd also expect that he would have kept a diary of his explorations. Have you checked to see if the Mitchell Library in Sydney has a copy of it. Also, what about the Sydney Gazette? Have you checked the indexes to them. It is several decades since I consulted them, but I THINK that they used to be held in the Mitchell Library in Sydney too. Which makes me remember the National Library of Australia old newspaper site -- where the Sydney Gazette along with the Maitland Mercury are the two NSW newspapers digitised so far. I expect that you might find a lot of information in there.
