Hi I'm doing research into Sarah TULLOCH who married Richard BOYLE in Maitland in 1863. From death records it looks as though Sarah is the daughter of James and Helen. Richard maybe the son of George and Catherine. Sarah and Richard were living at Patricks Plains and had at least 10 children. I couldn't find Sarah Tulloch's birth. I know there is a big Tulloch family who are in the wine business in the Hunter. I don't know if there is any connection. Any others searching this family Kind regards Dianna Charles
Hi Dianna, Tullochs had a vineyard, 'Fordwich', near Broke and about 20 miles from the popular vineyards at Pokolbin. James [k/a Jimmy] Tulloch was growing grapes at 'Fordwich' long before table wines gained acceptance in Australia--perhaps as early as the WW1. There was still a Tulloch listed at 'Fordwich' as recently as 2001. Other Tullochs lived at Maitland around 1950, who were, I believe, related to Jimmy. Alexander Tulloch began a grocery store in John St, Singleton about WW1, which was later carried on by his son Reginald Tulloch, and later by grandsons. I have always thought that this family was related to the 'Fordwich' Tullochs. Regarding the Boyle name--there were at least two such families living in Singleton in the 1920--1960 period. James [Jimmy} Boyle had a butchery in John St., and Ernie Boyle was a pastrycook. There may have been some relationship between these families, as Ernie's son was Jimmy's slaughterman. HTH. Regards, Bennie. ----- Original Message ----- From: "dianna charles" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, June 07, 2009 9:49 AM Subject: [HV] TULLOCH/BOYLE FAMILES > > Hi > I'm doing research into Sarah TULLOCH who married Richard BOYLE in > Maitland in 1863.
