Hi Marg Thank you for replying and the bit of extra detail than what the online index gives. I gather the ??? means it is difficult to read. Does the RC mean Roman Catholic? Isn't Sydney St James Church of England? I am more confused than ever now. I have a death certificate for a Catherine Lilly in 1859, in the Sydney Benevolent Asylum. I am sure this is the wrong one as she was 68 years old and my Catherine had her last child in 1848. There was another convict Catherine Lilley alias Mary Kelly who arrived on the Duchess of Northumberland in 1852, so this is probably her. I have tried to find this Mary's age on her arrival but haven't had any luck so far. My Catherine was also a convict - Catherine Carmody (Pyramus 1836) and was reportedly 21 when she left Cork. Is it feasible that my Catherine went to Sydney? As I said I have sent for the burial transcription for 1850 and will just have to wait to see what that comes up with....probably no more than what Marg's given me. That's was the reason I was looking for any cemetery records of her burial. If that is her dying in Sydney, can someone tell me where she would have been buried and if there is any index please?
