Public access to QLD marriage indexes has been stuck at 1939 for quite a long time( On line to 1934 - on fiche to 1939) In some frustration I sent the QLD BDMS an email late last week and got a very prompt reply > At this point in time I am unable to advise when further > Marriage > indexes will be released. > Currently this office is updating the Death indexes up to 1980 > and also > we have embarked on a project to digitalise all this Registry's > records. > Once this these projects are completed we will be releasing > more Birth > and Marriage indexes. Unfortunately I am unable to give you a > time frame > for this. > > > Regards >> Customer Contact Officer > Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages > Phone : 07 - 3247 5811 And yesterday on rechecking some info on their web site I discovered that from 1 Jul 2011 certs will now cost $37 till 30 Jun was $36. Still could be worse, SA certs cost $43 ........... Dunno how that is justified ? VIC ones only cost $17.50 and you can download them . Bye MargM List Admin
Shhhhh ... Don't let the Victorians know about it ... they'll only cash in big time like all the others :-)) " VIC ones only cost $17.50 and you can download them ."
You should appreciate the fact that we have had a Cat 5 cyclone through here, as well as floods, decimated crops, you can use the Ask a librarian service for BDM notices, most cemeteries are on line...get off the Queensland government backs, how do you know the library didn't go under in the floods... It's a pity the Government did not rectify both these matters beforehand, i.e. flood mitigation and their Archives..they have had ample time for both? But like most governments, they sit on their hands and then blame everyone else for their mistakes? Thanks Marg. It was nice of you to write to them, and to then share their response with us. Much appreciated. That they are digitising all records is great for the future. It would be nice to hope that this will result in cheaper certificates in the future -- but I won't be holding my breath waiting for that. ha ha. ray ----- Original Message ----- From: "MargM" <genknut@exemail.com.au> > > Public access to QLD marriage indexes has been stuck at 1939 for > quite a long time( On line to 1934 - on fiche to 1939) > > In some frustration I sent the QLD BDMS an email late last week > and got a very prompt reply > > At this point in time I am unable to advise when further Marriage indexes will be released. Once this these projects are completed we will be releasing more Birth and Marriage indexes. Unfortunately I am unable to give you a time frame for this. ...
