Hi Listers I have a bit of a dilemma and am hoping someone who likes puzzles can solve this for me, or indeed if someone who has them linked to their tree might be able to tell what is what here.. I have a John Hannah (1854-1927) married to a Sarah Cosby (?-1935). They had about 13 children. The 1st being a son Tichbourne Thomas Hannah (1881-1950) could not locate a marriage for Tichbourne. The 7th child to the family was a John Hannah (1894-1950). The NSW BDM's gives that John T [homas] Hannah (as one would think ) married May Edith Want 1907 at Maclean, NSW. Now, that all seems straight forward, until via Trove I located the probate record for the 1st son who we said was Tichbourne, and it reads briefly as follows - "In the Will of Tichbourne Thomas Hannah (known as John Thomas Hannah and also as Thomas Hannah) late of Grafton in the state of NSW, pensioner, deceased, -Application will be made after 14 days from publication hereof that probate of the last will and testament dated 23rd April 1946 of the abovenamed deceased may be granted to May Edith Hannah the sole executrix named in the said will and all notices be served at the undersigned address. etc. etc. etc." (more, but not applicable to my query). This therefore looks and appears that May Edith Want's husband was Tichbourne, so that raises the question of what then happened to the brother John Hannah born 1894 some 13 years after Tichbourne. Am I reading the above wrong and am "assuming" May Edith was therefore the wife of Tichbourne whereas he just might have authorised his sister-in-law to be the Executrix, or what. Hoping someone's fresh brain might see what I am obviously not seeing here, and give me a nudge in the right direction. Thankyou Margaret ************************* Margaret Bauer Qld, Australia bauerm@tpg.com.au *************************
I think it would be unlikely that a wife would be the executrix as she would presumably be the beneficary of her husbands estate so my guess is that Tichbourne is her brother-in -law. Lisa McMurray Canada
