Hi Mike Washpools were very common during the !1870's However I would think the one you are referring to is on the western side of the Bucketts Way south of Stroud and was established by the AAA coy for the "dipping" of sheep. The creek feed into the Karauh River Regards Ron ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Harvey" <mjharvey@bravo.net.au> To: <aus-nsw-hunter-valley@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 22, 2011 1:23 PM Subject: [HV] Washpool > Does any lister know where Washpool was situated in the 1870's? > > I think it may have been near Stroud. > > I know that there is another Washpool west of Grafton in NSW but it this > not > where I'd expect it to be in context of the land title I am interested in. > > Regards > Mike Harvey > Merewether NSW > mjharvey@bravo.net.au > "Being over the hill is better than being under it." > > If you forward this correspondence, please delete the forwarding history, > which includes my email address. > It is a courtesy to me and others who may not wish to have their email > addresses sent all over the world. > Erasing the history helps prevent Spammers from mining addresses and > viruses > from being propagated > > > > > > > ======= > Email scanned by PC Tools - No viruses or spyware found. > (Email Guard: 7.0.0.21, Virus/Spyware Database: 6.16950) > http://free.pctools.com/ > ======= > Please remember to snip most of the earlier message before you post any > reply...... Mike, Having lived in Stroud in the 40s I would place it a little west of Stroud on a back road from Stroud joining what is referred to as Stroud Road which runs from the Old Pacific Hwy between Stroud and Stroud Road and continues to Dungog and yes history syas it was mainly used for sheep dipping purposes.
