Hi Listers I have posted re John Ryan before but I now have a bit more information. John Ryan married Jane Devine in Maitland in 1860. They had 1 daughter Mary born about 1861. John died about 1863 in what was possibly an accident, maybe work related. He was about 35 years of age. The number of John Ryans in the Hunter is a little overwhelming - anyone got any ideas? Lisa   There is a death registration for a John Ryan, age 40 years, died Maitland on the NSW BDM's registration no. 4362/1862 - could be him.   Also, on Trove a newspaper article about a John Ryan being gored by a bullock - Maitland Mercury 13 July 1961, page 6 supplement - he was taken to Maitland hospital in a very precarious state.   Hope this helps as I know what you mean about all the John Ryan's in the Hunter and Manning River areas of NSW.   Roseanne
