Wondering if any one has information on family of Herb Deards b 1880 of Salisbury via Dungog - Son of William Deards and Eliza Sarah Edwards. Herb married Mary Saxby. Eldest surviving son of my McLennan family from Munni worked for Herb Deards on his farm at Salisbury from about 1924 - 1936 and then again during the war. George married alice Lilly Cook who also worked at the farm and their first child was born there. George was somewhat of a local bushman. His grandaughter writes: My grandfather was something of a local hero in his time - often people would get lost in the bush/mountains, either on foot or a plane would come down and it was my grandfather who would be called upon to search them out because he knew the terrain so well. The locals named a lookout after him called "George's Chair" near Barrington Tops. Would anyone know anything about the Deards property or where it is located or anything about George McLennan.
