    3. A new site launched this month: http://oa.anu.edu.au/ <quote>Obituaries Australia is a digital repository of obituaries published in newspapers, journals, magazines and bulletins. Here you will find the life stories of Australians from the earliest times to the present. This site is hosted by the National Centre of Biography at the Australian National University, which also produces the award-winning Australian Dictionary of Biography. While the ADB focuses on the lives of notable Australians, Obituaries Australia offers a more egalitarian sample of the Australian experience by reproducing, in a convenient online format, published obituaries relevant to the history of Australia.<endquote> Yvonne Scrivener Canberra ACT Australia

NSW State Records has alot of info http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/state-archives/guides-and-finding-aids/short-guide-8/short-guide-8Ihaven't come across any specific list just for Maitland. Depending onwhattime period the Parish maps data base may help? The Land & Property Info Office behind the Hyde Park Barracks is the mainrepository.Could be a ref in the Maitland Mercury ?If before 1856 might be a ref in http://gazette.slv.vic.gov.au/ .Bye MargMHunter Valley List Admin

    1. Re: [HV] Land grants - first title holders for various counties
    2. Deb
    3. Hi Peter, There is a series of books/CDs (one for each County) from Royal Australian Historical Society. "Compiled from each county's parish maps; contains alphabetical lists of all surnames of the first title holders. Parish maps also shown." The one you would be looking for is: First Titleholders of Land in the County of Northumberland by Geoff Cannon. Listed at a number of libraries at WorldCat http://www.worldcat.org It can also be purchased through Maitland & District Genealogical Society but is quite expensive. The order form gives a better description of what is included. Looks good to me! http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ausmfhc/ Hope this helps, Deb. -----Original Message----- From: Peter.W.Coleman Sent: Friday, April 15, 2011 4:47 AM To: AUS-NSW-HUNTER-VALLEY@rootsweb.com Subject: [HV] Land grants Is there a list of land grants for the Maitland area ?
