    3. Hi listers, Her record says "inquest dispensed with" by "city coroner". Is this normal just because she was old and at a hospital?? Or should I look into it further for something sinister ... suggestions where to start looking? 3. It was a non suspicious death, so the inquest was dispensed with. All deaths in Nursing Homes are referred to the Coroner and if not suspicious, the inquest is dispensed with . .· ´¨¨)) -:¦:- ¸.·´ .·´¨¨)) ((¸¸.·´ ..·´ -:¦:- -:¦:- ((¸¸.·´*.` Jenny McCarthy JP Brightwaters on beautiful Lake Macquarie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tim Jones" <tc.jones@bigpond.com> To: <aus-nsw-hunter-valley@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 18, 2011 10:11 AM Subject: [HV] "inquest dispensed with" by "city coroner" Hi listers, Her record says "inquest dispensed with" by "city coroner". 3. Dear Tim, It would appear that the Doctor who was treating this woman, was not in a position to issue a Certificate as to the actual cause of death. It could be as simple as the Doctor was away on holidays. The death was then referred to the Coroner, and Police would have prepared reports. Possibly also a Post Mortem was carried out on the body. When the City Coroner took everything into account he felt that there was no need for a formal Inquest, so dispensed with an Inquest. It is possible that all those reports are filed, and would be held at State Records, however, they are not available in the same manner as all other records are, so you will have to write to the City Coroner at Glebe, and seek approval to view the file. Further information on Inquests can be found in the Help Sheet, Archives in Brief No. 4 which you will find on www.records.nsw.gov.au Sincerely, Bill > Her record says "inquest dispensed with" by "city coroner". > Is this normal just because she was old and at a hospital?? > Or should I look into it further for something sinister ... suggestions > where to start looking?
