Hi Listers Might there be anyone can help me with "Joseph Henry Rundle" he died in 1958 at Wallsend in Newcastle and from his death, his time of birth is about 1871 give a year I guess, incase he had his birthday already at the time of the year he died. Now I know that he had a Retail Menswear Store in Hunter Street, Newcastle for many years. >From the Registrar General's Index of BMDs it says (at his death in 1958) his parents were a Samuel and an Elizabeth, and that exhausts what I have so far .apart from his marriage in 1908 at East Maitland. Might there be someone who has this Rundle line in their research and can tell me his birth or maybe where he was from please as I am stumped. I have tried Trove and nothing seems to show as being prominent in Newcastle Retail, I was hoping for something in the paper like either data of the family or an advertisement if the shop maybe, but there seems nothing. .Thankyou Margaret ************************* Margaret Bauer Qld, Australia bauerm@tpg.com.au *************************

Hi Rhonda Sir William Manning was involved with John Nadin at Candelo and Kameruka - he was a magistrate and there is a lot on him online http://www.manning.ch/genealogy/f822.htm http://adbonline.anu.edu.au/biogs/A050237b.htm http://www.auspostalhistory.com/articles/1964.shtml I am reading "A Colonial woman" Te Life and times of Mary Braidwood Mowle whose husband was the collector of customs at Eden in 1850's and the Mannings are mentioned often. I am new to this list. Sarah MANTLE married George Thomas BRADSHAW in Sydney in 1880 - there are 2 entries - one for Annie Mantle and a second one for Sarah Mautle both are Reg Nos 4340/1880. I have not been able find a death reg until I recently found an item on Ancestry in the NSW Coroners Index for a Sarah BRADSHAW aged 37 who died in September 1894 in Newcastle which also states she was born in West Maitland. This entry matches a death reg for a Susan BRADSHAW who died in 1894 in Newcastle with parents William and Charlotte. There seems to be conflicting information as there is also a Sarah Mantle who married a Charles Dillon in 1875. Sarah Dillon died 1895 her parents were also William and Charlotte. Is there anyone out there who could help me? I am a descendent of a Annie, sister of George BRADSHAW. Shirlee Wellington, NZ
Hello Listers I need some help with finding about a Magistrate William Manning who was in the Maitland area c1842, his name is on a ticket of leave for a convict James Bright arr. Marquis of Huntley 4. I am trying to find out whatever I can on Mr. Manning and I know you have a lot of resources and knowledge on that area of the Hunter. James Bright was also at one time with Richard 'China' Jones who had land at Bolwarra and Capt Bourn Russell, listed on another of his ticket of leave as well. I have been able to Google Richard Jones and Capt. Bourn Russell but its Mr. Manning, I am hoping to find if he was a landholder and business man and what type of business he may have been in. Now having read the blurb on Edyce Manning, who had the Hunter Steam Ship Company I am not sure which of the Manning family signed the T/L, but William Manning is mentioned on Trove in an article referring to Maitland and he is the magistrate. If you could help me please in my search it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Rhonda
Marg and others Check out the latest comments, looks like something unusual has been uncovered. http://www.flickr.com/photos/state-records-nsw/5763060299/in/photostream MargaretB Lake Macquarie NSW Australia
Dear Ian, Archives Outside is something that is open for anyone to subscribe to, and often has photos to ponder over. Comes as an email a couple of times a week. Fiona Sullivan from State Records is the Manager. There is a section under each photo for comments. It has been going for two years, only having the second birthday recently. > Marg, > Have you told State Records that we have successfully identified > their photo?? > > Regards,

Thanks again Marg. Apart from a quick cursory glance originally, I haven't looked very far into it --- not coming from an inventive or technological family. But I filed it away for future reference -- as I shall do with this one too. Thanks again for supplying them to us. And whilst I am at it thanks to Ian, you, and Alan for the Hunter Valley links -- I have not yet had time to investigate any of them; but thank each of you for sharing them with us. regards: Ray ----- Original Message ----- From: "MargM" <genknut@exemail.com.au> > > http://pericles.ipaustralia.gov.au/ols/auspat/ > The Australian government has put online a new database that lists patent > applications going back as far as 1904 > > > Did anyone find a surprise or two in this ?? .......... Hi Marg I did reply that I found two, but on checking again I just found four. Three ceased and one lapsed. Thanks for posting the link.
