    1. FW: [HV] Hemmings - Death in Lambton colliery accident
    2. Ken and Maree Shilling
    3. Hello Carol, Thomas HEMMINGS was killed in the Lambton Colliery 19 September 1885. He was 47 years old. The Newcastle Family History Society Inc nfhsinc@gmail.com, has published Nineteenth Century Coalmining Deaths which gives some details from the inquest, including the fact that he had worked in the colliery for 22 years. There is also a reference to some information from the local paper. Regards, Ken Shilling. -----Original Message----- From: Carol Dale [mailto:coradsl@tpg.com.au] Sent: Friday, 24 February 2006 4:29 PM To: AUS-NSW-Hunter-Valley-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [HV] Hemmings - Death in Lambton colliery accident Dear list, Whilst researching the family of Thomas Hemmings and his wife Emma, I found his entry in the Old Wallsend cemetery records as being killed at the Lambton Colliery in 1885. In case you dont have the e mail affress it is as follows, www.bdm.nsw.gov.au I can gib\]ve you the reference number though. It is 3407/1865 BARTLETT WILLIAM---GRANDESON GEORGINA WOLLONGONG. Another coincidence is the HILL name. I am at present trying to make contact with ELIZABETH ALICE HILL hoping she was the CHAPMAN that Married JOHN JOSEPH HILL in FIVEDOCK in 195. An ELIZABETH (Betty) ALICE CHAPMAN was thge Grandaughter of Alice BARTLETT who in turn was the daughjter of WILLIAM C BARTLETT. My main interest is finding details and photos of WILLIAM JOSEPH CHAPMAN the de facto of ALICE BARTLETT and also my Grandfather by an earlier relatiomnship.. Hoping this helps and please excuse my mistakes because I mow have very little sight. 2. Peter Saunders
    3. Thanks for the reply Phil. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any connection. My Saunders were brothers Albert and Arthur who arrived into S.A. and later moved to Merewether around 1890. Cessnock connections were Albert's son Albert 'Alf', who married Annie McINTYRE, and Arthur's daughter Jane who married Samuel RICHARDS. Maureen You wrote - only one Saunders connection in my family tree namely Ellen Saunders who married Charles A Stanmore in 1880 and had 10 children

    2. HEARNE, Phil
    3. My name is Phil Hearne I am currently researching the MULLARD family, Philip & Ann arrived in Maitland with their family in 1856 and appear to have settled in West Maitland Philip was a blacksmith by trade. He had 5 children from a previous marriage and a further 6 from his current marriage the latest being born on board ship from the UK. Subsequently these children married into the following families ALNWICK, TURNBULL, GROVES McLEAN, STONE, COSTELLO. And there children into the following families -: HALLAM, JONES, McKINNON, O'NEILL, PARSONS, SAUNDERS, STANMORE, TAYLOR, WHEATLEY In the Maitland, Newcastle, Cessnock & Singleton areas There appears to have been MULLARD's in the Maitland at the time of their arrival however to date I have not been able to connect these MULLARDs with the Mullard's in Stokesay Shropshire UK where Philip & Ann originated from. I look forward to your post regarding any of the above surnames.

I have had a bit to do with a couple of Show Societies and they kept Everything. Also the local paper may well have records going back that far. Someone else on the list may be able to give you contact addresses. Cheers from another Jan
