    3. Hi Maree, From: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/interlock Where it says Interlock 1. To unite or join closely as by hooking or dovetailing. 2. To connect together (parts of a mechanism, for example) so that the individual parts affect each other in motion or operation. v.intr. To become united or joined closely, as by hooking or dovetailing. n. (ntr-lk) 1. Computer Science A device or instruction that coordinates two or more processes and prevents one operation from interfering with another. We can eliminate this one <g> 2. A stretchy fabric knitted with interlocking stitches by alternating sets of needles on a circular knitting machine. Also mentioned in the following references; arm wrestling crochet dovetail dovetail joint geodesic dome gimmal Hoop lock Hose coupling Indian wrestling Interdigitate Interfolded interlocking lock stitch lockstitch machine stitch meshing sewing-machine stitch snake-rail fence Split ring I expect your great grandmother's father may have worked with fabrics, wool or textiles of some kind. It would be worth finding; 1. The occupation noted on his marriage & death certificates; 2. where he lived 3. what industries were in that area at that time. 4. what the Sands or other directories list him as You may be able to identify a particular industry in the area he lived & therefor have a better idea of what this occupation was. If you send me his name and some dates off list I will see what I can find for you. I hope this helps Helen On 10/03/06, Errol & Maree Elliott <eltrix@hunterlink.net.au> wrote: > Can anyone tell me if your occupation is interlocker, what did they do? > > This is the occupation of my great grandmother's father as cited on her death certificate. > I have not heard of it before. 3. Hi Maree, As part of my Saturday morning cooking, knitting and sewing lessons with my Mother aged 10 I had to overlock and interlock clothing on the old treadle sewing machine and if I made a mistake she would make me unpick it and start all over again, this is the only type of interlocking I am aware of. 3. Hi helen, I appreciate your offer to help and would be grateful for your help if you happen to go to the Dtate Library next week as I cant make it for some time. As you have the dates for the death notices for Norman and Georgin Ironside would it be too much trouble to see if any children are listed in the notices and possibly I can look up the rolls at Strathfield later if necessary. I have the White Pages print out. As to eye troublls mibe is Advanced Macular Degeneration which hs been coming on for possibly 15 years and as you have a black spot I suggrest you have this checked out too. On the recommendation of several Doctors over the years I have been able to slow down the onslaught with 500 Viteman C and 250 D a day. This has now been proven to help with Mac. Dg> As foar as handling my PC screen I use a Magnifiying glass and print most things out to read under strong white light and another glass. Sometimes I have to have the material read for me. To afford all the printing I refill my cartridges myself with good quality ink I have sent from Victoria. It can be dicey because you have to use hypo needles. I also use stacks of paper. Till later, Cheery Regards, Lex Campbell, Ashfield. Phone. 02 97987687.
