Hi Bev, You don't need to send for the WW1 records - they're online at the National Archives site. Looking through the list of dependants there are three children listed but no Dorothy. I have Herbert's brother, Frederick Simon Wilder, in my Walters research. He married Florence Elizabeth Walters 1905 in Scone. Florence's father was a butcher on the Belltrees property. Cheers Jan

Hi again Maria There are some basic records at the NSW State Archives on Rookwood Asylum: "g. Rookwood Asylum (see also Section a and Lidcombe State Hospital and Home for later records) 1. Registers of admissions and discharges, 28 Dec 1903-1 Sep 1928, CGS 4972 (6/4727-34; microfilm copy SR Reels 1714-1719). 8 vols. In September 1927 Rookwood Asylum became Lidcombe State Hospital and Home. These registers appear to be the only surviving records of this institution. The registers record, on the left hand pages - name, age, date of admission, total, remarks; and on the right hand pages - name, age, date of admission, date of discharge, total, remarks. " You might find some more about him there. Cheers Cathy Geelong Vic

Hello Listers, I am wondering if there maybe a lister who is also researching the kiley family - William Kiley b1842 Waterford Ireland, married Louisa Jane Williams b1849 Scone in 1866. They had the following- Michael b1867, William b 1869, Mary b1871, Margaret b 1872, Laurence b1874, Catherine b1876, Elizabeth b 1878, Sarah b1880, Hannorah b 1883 (my grandmother), Edmund b 1885 (killed at Gallipoli 1915) and Agnes b 1888. All the children were born in the Scone area. Their father William was killed on 8/11/1905 at Branch Creek Ellerson when he fell from a sleigh, drawn by 2 horses that run over him with sleigh. I am not sure, but I think William lived and worked on one of the White family property. I would be gratefull if any lister knows of this family and can give me more info. Many Regards John Rice Hervey Bay Qld
Hi Maria, Just give the Gaol a call (02 4936 6482) and they will be able to tell you where the records are kept. I suspect at the State Archives. The Gaol is now a tourist attraction (http://www.maitlandgaol.com.au/DefaultMaitlandGaol.asp) and has staff there all days of the week. I would phone during the working week however as the Manager will be available. It is well worth a visit actually. Lynette Lynette Begg P.O.
