I have transcribed St. Patricks and St. Bridgids Cemetery at Cooranbong but do not have any Harrigans buried there. The original Church on the property was a timber church replaced with the existing church about 100 years ago I believe. ..· ´¨¨)) -:¦:- ¸.·´ .·´¨¨)) ((¸¸.·´ ..·´ -:¦:- -:¦:- ((¸¸.·´*.` Jenny McCarthy Brightwaters N.S.W. on beautiful Lake Macquarie
Hello to all I recently visited the above church's graveyard and think that I have found some of my missing HARRIGAN ancestors. The church itself looked fairly modern (ie built in the last 100 years). Does anyone know if the original church was destroyed or replaced, or is this church the original? Another quick question. Has anybody done any research into school records at St Joseph's at LOCHINVAR? I haven't approached the school yet, but was hoping someone out there might be able to guide me. My grandmother was a boarder there sometime between 1910 and 1920. Hi Listers, Just letting you know about my Hawkesbury Landholders CDs. Hawkesbury Landholders Vol 1 Pearl Beach & Patonga 1839 - 1c.1990 released last May, contains a full chain of title for most blocks of land in both these locations. It also includes Volume, Folio & Dealing numbers for each transaction, place of residence at the time the land was bought, occupations, husband name & occupation in the case of married women being the purchaser, and a whole lot more. A wealth of information for family historians. Hawkesbury Landholders Vol 2a Richmond Windsor, Mulgrave Place and beyond, focuses on land in the Parishes of Ham Common and St Matthew but because the Land Grant Indexes listed the locations simply as "Mulgrave Place" it also includes land in a number of other areas. As this is all Old System land and very difficult and immensely time consuming to search individual chains of title, it's an index of names with a Dept of Lands reference number to help you locate the information and subsequently the Title Deeds. It contains; a list of land grants in the general Hawkesbury area with Serial & Page No's, details of names and Portion Numbers where available from both Parish Maps, details of names and Lot/Section Numbers where available from the Town maps of Richmond and Windsor. It also includes Agnes Banks. There is a list of people who sold land (identified in this area) pre 1825. An 1827 list of owners & occupiers is also included. Apart from these entries it also contains ALL names mentioned in Primary Applications relating to land in this area and the often difficult to find, PA number. Due to the nature of the content & research done for a PA, these entries also can lead you to bankruptcies & Sequestration dates and numbers but only the names and the PA number are listed on the CD. Many of the names are family members, beneficiaries, trustees, mortgagees, and others mentioned in the Old System Land documents but not all were land holders. By referencing the PA you can then obtain the document reference number for the person of interest. There are approximately 9,000 entries. A Primary Application (PA) was lodged by anyone wanting to convert their land from Old System Title to Torrens Title from it's commencement on 1 Jan 1863. The information on the CD has been taken from Parish Maps, Grant Indexes and an eraly Vendors Index as well as the PA Search Books at the Land Titles Office which contain more details referencing other land than the official end result which are now mostly available at State Records Kingswood. The PA is the very important link between Old System Land & Torrens Title Land. As many of you will know, the PA number can be very difficult to locate. This is an ongoing project which will eventually cover all the Parishes on the entire Hawkesbury River and as such will take some time to complete and as such the proceeds of the CD's will fund the unavoidable purchase of Title Deeds to continue the project into the Torrens Title Land, ultimately resulting in a massive database and resource for family historians. The data has been taken from the publicly available records of the NSW Dept of Lands. The CDs are in Excel format with an Excel reader included so no special software is required. Vol 1 is available now Vol 2a is available for pre-release orders for payments received up to Friday 1 December 2006, shipment will be on the release date Monday 4 Dec 06. As Rootsweb does not permit prices to be advertised on their lists, please contact me OFF LIST on hjaydee@gmail.com for Payment options etc. Feel free to ask any questions not covered here Many thanks for your interest. Kind regards Helen Dickinson
Hi Marg, I have just had a baby so I believe I have a very good excuse .... But i would like to let everyone know that a reunion is planned for September 2007 for the descendants of Jonathon Hadfield and Ann Presho of Lancashire, who had several descendants settle in the Hunter. Associated names include Guy, Harrod, Quetcher, Magin, Crockett and Williams. Would love to hear from any other family out there who are interested both in sharing research and attending the reunion. Before Rootsweb changed the software used for mailing list you could subscribe to just get single message or as a digest of little file attachments With the Mailman software you get an extra choice of a list of messages Personally I think that is messy and hard to handle if you wish to reply I can easily change this to either single messages or blocks of little file attachments You just need to send me a 'please tweak' email Bye MargM Hunter Valley List Admin

Hello Michael, For a start you can get the death certificate of Charles Stanley ALLBROOK snr who died in 1916, registration no. 7428, Charlestown, NSW. As well as the usual details of date, place, cause of death, marriage, etc. this should also list the number of children of his marriage to Ellen Louisa. The names of all living children and their ages at that date of death, as well as the number of any children no longer living, will be given. Information on how to order the certificate and the price (A$25) can be found at the NSW registry's web site: www.bdm.nsw.gov.au. Follow the Family History links which will also lead you to transcription agents who will provide a transcribed copy at a lower price and offering a choice of the whole certificate or a partial transcription on a sliding scale of costs, should you prefer that option.. At first look I can find no other deaths for that family in the NSW indexes, and the only birth I can find is for John J in 1914 at Stockton, registration no.30875, which you appear to have already. Thought I'd just pass that much on to get you started. The death occurred on 19 Oct 2006 of Philippe TABUTEAU of Gosford, and the Central Coast has lost a stalwart in helping us to rediscover the district's history. Philippe and his wife emigrated to Australia from France, and since the early 1950s have lived at Narara. He founded the Gosford Local History Study Group, well-known as based at Niagara Park Shopping Centre, about 30 years ago . This group of volunteer researchers and transcribers was instrumental in the publication of a number of books on Central Coast History. The office ceased to operate with the onset of Philippe's illness. Philippe was privately buried in Wamberal Cemetery. He had arranged some years ago for a marble headstone to be erected on a sloping site which he joked would allow him a good view. The only thing missing in the inscription was his date of death. At that time he was unaware that his death would be as a result of Motor Neurone Disease. He will be missed. MargM Central Coast & Hunter Valley List Admin
