Hi I was wondering if someone may be able to help me. I am trying to find information namely a list of inmates at the above Seamans home from about 1880 to 1886 more particularily I am trying to find a Johan Meyer aka John Myers and his arrival in Newcastle I know he was in Newcastle around February 1886. It is believed that he may have jumped ship in Newcastle harbour and that he was a stowaway although none of this has been able to be confirmed. He was born in Norway in 1860. I have information about him from 1886 to the time he died in 1905 in Newcastle and also from his birth until 1879 in Norway. Its this inbetween time that I would like more information about and would really like some help. Any and all help and or advice is more than greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time. Regards Kerrie Myers Sydney Australia

Hi Drew, I have recently read your email about William JAMES of Cessnock area. I am interested in tracing a William JAMES, b. during 1850's in Wales and had 2 brother & 1 sister - 1/John (reported to have died during the Boer War) 2/Albert Edward, b. abt 1857 in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, Wales & d. 7 Mar 1927 in Newcastle Hospital, NSW 3/Mary Jane, b. abt 1864 on the Isle of Wight, England & d. 26 May 1935 in Lithgow. >From oral family history, my aunt-in-law remembers travelling from Lithgow to the Cessnock area with her grandmother when she was very little as her grandmother's brother William had just died but Aunty Eve could not remember her uncle's wife's name. It is possible that William JAMES may have worked as a miner as Mary Jane's husband, William James THOMAS was a miner and their only daughter Eva Marion THOMAS married into a mining family of CAMPBELL's from Wallsend. Like you Drew, any information will be gratefully appreciated, many thanks in advance, Glynis Wheeler Blaxcell, NSW ----- Original Message ----- From: "drew gerard" <gerard_drew@yahoo.com.au> To: <AUS-NSW-HUNTER-VALLEY@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 15, 2007 5:43 PM Subject: [HV] JAMES family of Cessnock > Hello > I am searching for info on the James family of Gordon Avenue, Aberdare, > Cessnock. Hello lovely list Would anyone out there have the Sandgate Cemetery inscriptions and wouldn't mind doing a look-up for me? I'm looking for Catherine CAMPBELL who died 2/9/1913 (aged 51) and who is buried in the Catholic section. What I'm specifically looking for is a guide to whether her husband (John CAMPBELL) was still alive when she died. Hi Cathy, Thanks for that information re the Harrigans buried in the Lochinvar Catholic Cemetery. Records in regard to the cemetery were destroyed when the presbytery was extensively damaged by fire in 1943. Many precious records were destroyed. Not to worry, they must have been buried without headstones - (Which I find surprising, as they had a large number of descendants). I know about all the Branxton Harrigan burials - thanks anyway! I was there in November and took loads of photos - however I didn't even know about the Lochinvar Cemetery until I got the certificates and also found out that other O'Neill ancestors were buried there (Catherine Harrigan's parents Patrick & Esther O'Neill) Many thanks Cathy Geelong Vic On Fri, 2007-02-09 at 08:32 +1100, Jenny McCarthy wrote: > I have Lochinvar Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery and the Harrigans do not > appear > > > ..· ´¨¨)) -:¦:- > ¸.·´ .·´¨¨)) > ((¸¸.·´ ..·´ -:¦:- > -:¦:- ((¸¸.·´*.` > Jenny McCarthy > Brightwaters N.S.W. > on beautiful Lake Macquarie ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to AUS-NSW-HUNTER-VALLEY-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message This email is intended for the named recipients only.
