Dear Bill Thank you for your reply. This is how the newspaper article started off: "William HARRIS was indicted for feloniously assaulting Brian CROSBY at Croppy Creek, on the 18th June, 1849" The article is very long and gives very detailed descriptions of all the witness statements etc. No clue as to whether or not Catherine went back to Croppy Creek. Do you know if NSW State Records are available online? Dear Wendy, If you know the name of the offender, State Records at Kingswood will probably still have the trial papers, only because it was a Murder. That will of course only give you details of her evidence, but may throw some light on circumstances. Dear Listers I am trying to find the burial place of Catherine LILLEY (nee Carmody) who died in 1850. I have sent for the transcription of her death, but I don't hold out much hope of gleaning any more information from it. Catherine was living in Coppy Creek Cassilis in June 1849, but was in Maitland in September 1849 have "come down the country" as witness in a murder trial. This information was obtained from the Maitland Mercury & Hunter River General Advertiser on the NLA site. I don't know if Catherine went back to Cassilis or stayed in Maitland and died there. Any suggestions as to how I can find where she is buried please? Regards Wendy Mackay, Queensland

Please help me to identify some of these photos; I have put new up. They were found in my Grandparents shed after they had passed away in Muswellbrook. My grandmother was right into family research and had hundreds of photos all which were written on in great detail. These ones were not written on which makes me wonder if they were sent to them or that they rescued them from going to the garbage. My grandfather was a removalist in Muswellbrook and travelled all over helping people move. Both were great collectors. Most of them have a photographers name on them from Muswellbrook but others have Sydney on them, which only tells me that the photographer could have been travelling. Some of the photos are large, two are etched on Glass, and some are postcard size while the others are bigger. Thanks in advance and here is hoping that they all find new homes. Tracie http://traciesfamhistory.blogspot.com/ Some of the family names that they could be connected to are King, Jaeger, Small, Greentree, Schubert and Johnson
Hi Bill very quick many thanks I was sent a transcribed death certificate for edward jennings today and apparently he died in QLD and his death details have been added to the headstone I suppose that's why it was never on the NSW BDM many thanks and very much appreciated Faye
Hi Faye, Dungog General Cemetery Volume 2 by J A and D R Jones shows: Mary Jennings d. 15/8/1889 aged 62 years; her husband Edward Jennings d. 19/8/1891 aged 77 years; their daughter Ellen d. 1/6/1925 aged 81 years; and, Frederick W Jennings d. 12/10/1907 aged 50 years. All four Jennings in the Catholic section of the cemetery. No Boland headstones anywhere in Dungog cemetery (perhaps, like my Walshs, your Bolands preferred the no-headstone option!). Best wishes, Bill On Tue, Aug 18, 2009 at 5:16 PM, F.
