    3. June, I have two Thomas HANCOCK entries in my info but not spouses. They were: Thomas HANCOCK born in NSW in 1851 to Robert and Sarah. Thomas R HANCOCK born 1903 to Charles and Sarah. He was the brother of my Grandmother Susan Jane HANCOCK. Charles was the son of Robert and Sarah. Your Thomas and Margaret were married in 1886 according to BDM so my Thomas maybe the right one. Phillip Carruthers Brisbane, Australia +617 3273 5531 I have hit a brick wall with the above family members. Margaret NOWLAN born 1866 at Paterson the daughter of Edward and Mary NOWLAN - married Thomas HANCOCK in Sydney in 1886. Would love to hear from anyone who has any information on this couple. Thanks in anticipation Regards June of Singleton. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. Marje I'm not sure which version of FTM that you have but mine is 2006 and I can copy notes to and from each person's notes section and also to and from a Word document. I just use the usual keyboard commands of ctrl/c and ctrl/v for copy and paste and presto. 3. Hi Graham, In case you haven't found the solution here is the procedure. In Scrapbook select the photo, click on icon in bottom right corner of dialog box and tick Preferred pictures/object for FGS. Open FGS and click on Contents, Items to include, select Standard Page then Options then select Pictures/Objects under Include in Standard Page. Picture appears on RHS of persons field in FGS. HTH, Joe

    3. Hi Graham, You either must scan the photo onto your computer or have it on a camera. Then you go to the Scrapbook icon of the person you want to add the photo to, go Pidture/Object, then Insert from wherever you have the photo saved. It will then appear in the little photo frame and you click the drawer icon to add any title, dates., etc. Good luck. 3. Hi Grahame, I have FTM 2004 so I suppose it is almost the same as yours. I don't think you can add photos to a Family Group Sheet. You can add them to the All In One family tree templates using the "items to include button" which is the top button on the right hand side, but this button is greyed out on the Family Group Sheet. I ususally add all my photos to the scrapbook and customise the scrapbook pages, inserting them between my Ancestor or Descendant data sheets. HTH Regards, Marie

    3. Hello Richard I know that Orange family history group has been absorbed by the local council library and it may well happen to other groups who are struggling for membership and therefore financial viability under the onslaught of online resources. I think their will still be a place for family history & historical societies to operate. By remaining independent, with assistance and not interference, we are free to research what we see as important and not necessarily what the governing body sees as important. As an independent body we are able to create research resources that most libraries etc. do not have the time or finance to do. What most groups need is a place to store and function from at a reasonable cost. I know that that may sound selfish and self serving but we do really benefit the community by research and recording various types of history (family, social, built etc.) at very reasonable cost to the community. Museums on the other hand should most definitely be a shared community, local government and state government responsibility. The requirements for housing museum pieces, archiving, cataloguing etc requires expertise and large sums of money. I do think that the return to the community is excellent value for money in terms of retained items of historical importance, community identity etc. and if managed correctly should be able to generate a financial income to assist in its running. If the new art gallery can do it why not a museum in a town with loads of history???
