Hi Lesley, The HV Directory : 1841 was compiled and edited by Elizabeth Guilford in 1987, as a Bicentenary project. Limited edition of 500 copies. Lists some 10,000 inhabitants (adults) who were identified as living in the Hunter Valley in 1841 (also in 1840 & 1842). The listing was compiled from various primary sources, such as the Census, Publicans Licenses, Parish Registers, Convict Applications to Marry, Returns of the Colony, Ticket of Leave Butts, Shipping Indents, Government Gazettes and various Newspapers.
