Do you know if there would be a list of convicts and workers who were assigned to Goorangoola? 3. Allan, Do you have any record of the assignment for convicts? I am looking for Thomas Lewis shoemaker and groom from the Camden 1831? I believe he was assigned to Maitland and is recorded in the 1937 muster. I am not sure how to find out to whom he was assigned. Hope you or someone else on the list may be able to help. Isabelle

    3. Dear Isabelle, Dont know about the assignment for Thomas Lewis, but in the index to the Hunter River Gazette newspaper (1841-1842) that we indexed there is the following entry that may be of interest... Lewis Thomas Constable - Charged William Meyer with his assault s at Morpeth We know you said that your Thomas Lewis was a shoemaker but thought we would mention the above just in case. Wendys first convict , Daniel Cubitt, was also a shoemaker and changed jobs to Master of the Row Guard, so perhaps your Thomas may have changed professions - a long shot, but worth a mention, Isabelle. Best wishes, Rod & Wendy Gow Isabelle Alaban wrote: > Allan, > > Do you have any record of the assignment for convicts? I am looking for > Thomas Lewis shoemaker and groom from the Camden 1831? 3. Greeting Alan, Yes the 2nd Thomas Lewis from the Camden is mine. He served a long time even for a lifer. I have no idea who he was assigned to and I thought if I discovered this, I may find out how he came to meet and marry Mary Coyle a free settler who was "Imported" as a domestic. Any help much appreciated.
