Today, the Glenorie and Hillside community bid a fond farewell to Mr. Adam 'Eddie' Halcrow. Eddie passed away suddenly whilst trying to protect his beloved Hillside home and orchard during the devastating fires that swept through the Glenorie community on 4th December, 2002. A descendant of the pioneering Halcrow family from the Shetland Isles, Eddie was well known throughout the Hills District, an area steeped in agricultural history. He was one of the few remaining large-scale commercial orchardists, continuing the family tradition passed on by his father and uncles before him. Many kind words were spoken ... a highly respected member of the local community, a real gentleman and somewhat of a local legend. He will be sorely missed by those who had the honour of knowing him.
