Dear Lesley, State Records at KINGSWOOD hold cards for State Rail employees, but like all records, some did "not survive". If you can get a card it will tell you name, date of birth, when he started work with the railway and details of any transfers, involvement in strikes etc. I haven't one for a fettler, but recently looked at one where the person was said to have been fireman to Ben Chifley, but his rail employment records show he was a labourer in the Bathurst workshop. Well worth a look. A day at KINGSWOOD is always a good day, but remember to take lunch as there are no shops nearby.
