    3. Hello Ray, I don't know if we are related, but being married at West Maitland is a good start. What was the age of your Neal Sweeney when he married? Who were the witnesses to the marriage? How many children did he have, and who were the sponsors to the baptisms? Do you have his death certificate? and were his parents listed on it? My ancestors were Thomas Sweeney and Mary Gillespie( no marriage as Thomas had wife in Ireland. He blotted his copy book with a colonial crime and lost the indulgence of wife and family coming to the colony at the governments expense). They lived at Black Creek (now Branxton) and 3 of their children baptised at West Maitland. On Mary's death certificate it states that there were 7 children I have found the following: Bridget born 1834 (my gg grandmother), Mary born circa 1836, Catherine born circa 1838, John and Patrick born 1841. Bridget Married 1. James Freel Their children were: Esther Jane; John Neal, Isabella (John Neal could have been named after 2 brothers!) Isabella was my g grandmother Bridget's 2nd husband was William Raisbeck. Mary Jnr married William Wallace in 1850, then partnered William Jones Jnr. Catherine married John Jackson jnr in 1856 John never married Patrick moved to Queensland and married Mary Ann Scanlan nee O'Brien (born Wollombi) It would be great if your Neal was the 6th sibling. I have copied my cousins in to our discussion. They would be very excited to learn of a connection as we have been searching since 1974 to find the family. Looking forward to hearing from you. In response to Diane's request for more list activity, and also as the SWEENEY name has been activated on the list recently; here is my SWEENEY request: > > I have a Neil or Neal SWEENEY --- no parent details -- who in 1893 married Ellen Selina "Nel" HAWKINS, probably at West Maitland. > > Their two children were: > Linda Mary SWEENEY: born 1895; and > Neil J.B.
