Greeting All, I desperately need some help. I am trying to trace the family of my G.G. Grand father Thomas Lewis (a bootmaker from Wales - resident of Merton) who married Mary Coyle (from Ireland - resident of Merton) in the Parish of Rowan in 1845. Witnesses to the marriage of Thomas and Mary were Susanna Miller of Merton & John Weir of Muswellbrook. Thomas was a convict who was assigned to Maitland and appeared in the 1837 muster. Thomas and Mary had the following children Eliza Lewis b 1846 Osman Lewis b 1848 unusual name Henry Lewis b 1850 John Lewis b 1853 Oliver Lewis b 1857 Apart from Oliver and now Elizabeth whose fate I know thanks to a kind person on another board, I can find no record of the other children having married or died. I know they were all still living at the time of Mary's death in 1883. Osman may be common in Wales but it is a very unusual name in Australia- would anybody know a possible alternative that a lad may adopt to survive with us colonials? A whole family can't just disappear - can they? Thanks & Regards Isabelle
