    3. I am hoping that those who have convicts in their ancestry may be able to assist me. I have a convict named Thomas GRAVETT who was transported for a 15 year conviction from Surrey, England on the Emerald Isle to TASMANIA in October 1843. After his release, he begins to wander. He married in Victoria in 1864 and also married in Bathurst NSW in 1892. I have looked through records at SAG, LDS centre at Carlingford and the Mitchell Library in the hope of finding a 'ticket of leave/pardon' for this man. An archivist at the NSW State Archive Office informed me that the NSW Archives only holds the shipping records to Tasmania. I have trawled the Tasmanian sites including the Tasmanian Archives but cannot find how one goes about applying for a copy of a convicts release. There was another convict also named Thomas GRAVETT in NSW but he arrived in 1827. If anyone has needed to find a convict sent to Tasmania where do you apply for their ticket of leave/pardon??? Kindest Regards Lesley
