Mordant and Miney appear to have had one child in 1893, and no more. Leslie M B Gunn, birth 3763 of 1893. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lorna Clauson" <lornaclauson@mac.com> To: <AUS-NSW-HILLS-HAWKESBURY-HUNTER-VALLEY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, July 14, 2002 5:34 PM Subject: [H,H,HV] family search > Hello everyone, > I'm Lorna Clauson, (retired Commerce Teacher) NZ, but half Australian as > my dad was born in Dubbo. Lorna, Sorry to add to your mystery, but this Leslie Mordant (sic) Gunn who died in Redfern was the child of Christopher and Miney. I searched for a death of Christopher Gunn, without luck. Given your man's record it would seem highly likely that he deserted yet another wife. There is not one death of a "Miney" recorded in NSW up to 1945. Remember, all of these searches cut off at 1945. Sorry I cannot help more. Maybe he went to the War! Maybe he went back to Scotland! Hello Ron Just thought you might like to know that we have just about closed in on our elusive Henry Mordaunt Cramond Booth Gunn (!!) and that the Leslie death you found in Redfern in 1945 was almost certainly his son from Henry's marriage to Miney Booth. A researcher has found variations of the family names in their certificates eg Miney = Minnie; The Leslie Christopher Gunn you found seems to have changed his name to CLEMENT when he married as everything else ties in: his wife and eventually widow luckily had the exact same name and their children match up! It's been a fascinating, and ongoing, piece of research which will help to clear up many family questions and mysteries. The most interesting is Henry's claim to be a surgeon and later an MD - my mother always said he tried to poison my grandmother; on the death cert. for Henry's second wife (Miney) death was due to 'accidental' overdose of hydrate of Chloral - a sleeping drug. Signature on the Death Cert. was her husband Henry, MD!!! So my mother was right. Thank you very much for your early help in this puzzle. It was instrumental in getting us further along the track. Good luck with your own research.
