    3. Thank you for this info Diane. I appreciate your taking time to reply. Is Mary Grace (Dobbs) listed in the HVD? Does Death in the Hunter give a number or reference to the inquest of Anthony Dobbs? Can you tell me how to go about finding a copy of the inquest? 3. Hi Marie, No listing for Mary, but keep in mind that the HVD only covers the period 1840-42, and her name may not have appeared in the primary sources that were used to compile the directory. As for the Inquest - the number was 2088 - dated 26th Feb. 1843 [from Death in the Hunter, Inquests in the Maitland area, 1834-1942, by Maitland Family History Circle]. There is no reference to a newspaper article, so that probably means the details were taken from the A.O. (State Records) Registers of Coroners' Inquests and Magisterial Inquiries microfilm, and that they did not find a newspaper report - but that's not to say there wasn't one, and you always have a trawl through the on-line Maitland Mercury http://www.nla.gov.au/ferg/browselist.html just to double check ! I don't think that inquest papers have survived for that period and you'll probably find that the register itself is the only record - containing a one line listing, with the number, place, date, name and cause of death (such as accidently killed or whatever). Very few details.
