William ASHTON [b.1785 Gainsborough, LIN, ENG] arrived on the 'Sesostris' as a convict on 21 Mar 1826. He was married to Mary Ann SANDERSON who with some of their children followed him out on the 'Burrell' arriving 20 May 1831. Their daughter Charlotte [b.1820] was 'married' firstly to Henry ISTED and their first daughter Jemima [married to John Albert DAVIS] is my great grandmother. Other children of this union of Charlotte's were Charlotte, Reuben and Henry. What happened to Henry ISTED is not known but he seems to have disappeared and Charlotte then married [on 4 Jun 1853] Walter HARMAN. Five children were born named Walter, Amos, Joseph, Albert and Jane. I understand there are a number researching these names [ASHTON, SANDERSON, ISTED, HARMAN and DAVIS] and accordingly I would be grateful to make contact with those family historians with a view to exchanging information.
