    3. Carol, Presuming you live in Sydney: Wills - from 1788 to 1901 inclusive - have been filmed by LDS. Copies of films should be available at your LDS centre. Also SAG in Sydney has a copy I understand that because of copyright reasons or an agreement between SAG and LDS that photocopying of the film is not permitted at SAG. It is at LDS though. Probate index - from 1788 to about 1985 - produced by Supreme Court, Probate Division. Available most research centres, i.e., State Library, municipal libraries, genealogical societies, State Records. etc. Some centres don't have the latest fiche, perhaps only to about 1980. Deceased estate files - originals for NSW 1884-1958 held at State Records of NSW, Kingswood repository. --------- All are free to look up (except if you want a copy - then price of a photocopy) Some deceased estate files include a copy of the will (but don't count on it). If you want a copy of a will after 1901 you would need to apply to Supreme Court, Probate Division. Last time I checked they were still charging like wounded buffalo - probably more like the whole herd now <g>. So be wary. Alison :-) Sydney Oz ------------- Carol Dale wrote: > Dear List, > > Can anybody help me in respect of the availability of wills and > probate documents.
