Just in case some of the new subscribers are not familiar with the abbreviations sometimes used in emails, here are a few examples ottomh (off the top of my head) g : grin vbg : very big grin fwiw : for what it's worth btw : by the way fyi : for your information lol : laugh/ing out loud tia : thanks in advance imo : in my opinion afaik : as far as I know ttbomk : to the best of my knowledge There are probably stacks of others ... these are just some of the ones I see used on a regular basis on the mailing lists.     3. Claude, Phil, Marg, Robert, et al, Claude .... I'm speechless :-) Phil ... no apology necessary, everyone is different. I was generally referring to the ones you see often on "genealogy" lists. Personally, I have never visited a chat room and nor have I ever sent an sms message (call me ancient !). There are always newbies out there (I think we all were new at one stage) who may be unfamiliar with mailing lists etc. and I often see the same ? asked ... "what does it mean". Yes Marg, I knew I'd forget, perhaps, one of the most often seen ones. (SKS = some kind soul, for those who *may* not know). and Robert ... tsk ! tsk ! NO rude ones allowed on the list (even in abbreviated form). Perhaps enough said ... Diane
