Hello Helen, these Jean's would be some from Dorset England. They were connected with the New family also from Dorset England ( around Stourpane ). These New's lived around Maitland and Inverell. There were other New's from Dorset at Camden and Temora but they were different to the Maitland News. There were also New's out west, they were from Worcestershire ( my News ). I used to have some information on the Dorset News and Jeans which I investigated by mistake. There is also some information about them on Jeans-L at Rootsweb. If my memory serves me correctly one was called Malachi Jeans.
