    3. Hi Robert, They most certainly are the JEANS from Stourpaine, (& Durweston) Dorset, England, & yes there are a few NEW - JEANS marriages & JEANS - JEANS marriages between 1st & 2nd cousins. There were several JEANS & related families who come to Australia from Dorset. The first JEANS family member to arrive in Australia was; Frances (Fanny) JEANS & her husband, Benjamin WEEKS in 1837 per "The Brothers" - recruited by Edward Macarthur to work on the Macarthur Estate. Jane NEW (widow) nee Monkton & her children arrived in 1849 per "Emigrant" James BECKINGHAM who married Georgina Ainsworth JEANS also arrived in 1849 per "Emigrant" with his family Malachi JEANS & Martha Jane nee AINSWORTH arrived in 1855 per "Lord Hungerford" John & Martha JEANS nee DIBBEN arrived in 1856 per "Persia" along with 10 other members of the NEW family. All the above JEANS are descendents of Joseph JEANS & Elizabeth nee SHEPHERD m. 1738 Durweston, Dorset, England. I have 21 NEW's in my database. I am descended from John & Martha JEANS nee DIBBEN. Susan JEANS their 9th child who married James William BARDEN , were my g grandparents. Henry John JEANS, the son of Michael JEANS & Catherine nee SCOTT, was the Secretary & later a Director of The Muswellbrook Coal Company. Would love to hear from anyone with a connection to the above to fill in a few gaps but I also have a lot to exchange. Which part of the west did your NEW family settle? I have seen that name mentioned in the Central West & Pilliga areas recently.
