Hello Gordon and Diane I also have an ASSER in my family, though not my direct line - just a connection by marriage. Mary/May JOHNSTON (below) was daughter of Alexander JOHNSTON and Mary NOWLAND. ---------------------------------------- 1. Nathaniel Frederick ASSER (16 Jan 1825 - 2 May 1909) & Mary/May JOHNSTON (5 Nov 1832 - 21 Aug 1919) | 1. Mary Adelaide ASSER (2 Nov 1855 - 3 Jun 1943) & David Dunlop RUTLEDGE (Rev Dr) (1852 - 19 Sep 1905) | 2. Amy Elizabeth ASSER (2 Nov 1857 - 25 Aug 1935) & John Johnson KINGSMILL (23 Oct 1857 - 14 Sep 1941) Are these your ASSERS? If anyone on the list has connections to the other families I'd be interested. There are other RUTLEDGE connections in my BORTHWICK family. Hi Ann, Gordon and others, Ann ... I concur with you, as I have the same family in "the tree", and like you they are not a direct line. James Gilbert ASSER (son of Nathaniel and Mary) m. Edith Rebecca DIXON. The DIXON's come in on my g.grandfather's side of the family (thru one of his sister's children). Small world eh :) Gordon ... I have replied to off-list. FWIW ... according to "Annie Asser's Diary", edited by A.M. Entwisle, published by the Scone and Upper Hunter Hist. Soc. (ISBN 0 9598071 9 5), an unpublished record of the ASSER family (compiled by K. KINGSMILL) is held in the Society's archives ... If you don't have them, Nathaniel (b. 1825) ASSER's parents were Nathaniel Frederick ASSER (again !) & Mary SHERWIN. Sorry, but I don't have any dates. All the best, Diane ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ann Carson" <amcarson500@optusnet.com.au> Subject: RE: [H,H,HV] New member interests CONNOLLY-ROSE-ASSER- MCGINNIS-URQUHART ETC > Hello Gordon and Diane > > I also have an ASSER in my family, though not my direct line - just a > connection by marriage.
