The house at 342 Old Northern Road is also called "The Hermitage". Janet Middleton, grandaughter of Rogans Hill blacksmith, George Muir, believes that John Rogan built a small house which her grandfather extended in the early 1900s when he purchased it for his large family. It seems that de Clambe and Rogan owned some of the same land but it is difficult to determine whether the house is on the same location. The newspaper article stated that "The Hermitage" was built by de Clambe .... but this *may* be an error. Perhaps it may have been built by John ROGAN, of Rogans Hill. Can anyone clarify that ?
