Hughes born circa 1826 Wales - arrived possibly Victoria per "Madison" in 1852 a widower. Parents: Richard Hughes and Margaret? Occupation: Miner. Married Hannah Ancel, assistant storekeeper (born circa 1841 at Windsor parents George Ancel and Hannah Walker) on 6.4.1863 at Wollongong. Children include: 1. William George Ancel born 7.11.1860 at Wollongong known as Hughes, married Florence Elliott 20.7.1883 at Kurri Kurri, died 14.11.1921 at Kurri Kurri. 2. Henry Ancel born 12.2.1863 at Wollongong known as Hughes, married Mary Ann Sheldon 14.8.1883 at Wallsend. 3. Anna Jane Hughes born 7.10.1864 at Wollongong 4. Elizabeth Caroline Hughes born 5.8.1866 at McGraths Hill 5. Margaret E. Hughes born 1869 Ref 19488 at Windsor, married Caleb D Matthews 1889 at Wallsend, ref 6644. 6. Ernest born 1871 at Windsor ref 19236 married Emma L. Gough 1893 at Wickham ref 313 7. Frederick Charles Hughes born 1872 at Newcastle ref 14818 8. Catherine Hughes born 1875 at Wallsend ref 16753. Died 23.3.1888 buried Old Wallsend Cemetery. 9. John (R?) Hughes born 1877 at Wallsend ref 17698 married Margaret Arkley at Wallsend ref 5464 10. Henrietta Hughes born 1879 at Wallsend ref married George F. Snedden at Wallsend ref 2314 11.Georgina Hughes born 1879 at Wallsend ref 19776 12.
