    3. Hawkesbury Advocate, Friday, March 16, 1900 (page 4) HAWKESBURY D. A. ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Council was held on the Show ground on Wednesday afternoon, 14th instant. Present : Colonel Holborow (in the chair) and 17 members. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. Accounts from Hawkesbury Advocate for printing, and Mellish and Son for painting poultry shed were ordered to be paid. It was resolved to ask the Premier, the Hon. W. J. Lyne to open the Shoe on the 11th May, and failing to secure that gentlemen's presence the Hon. John See be invited. In the event of neither gentlemen not being able to accept the invitation, the Show not to be officially opened this year. The offer of Mr. James Hull to give a horse collar, or cash to the value of 25s, for the best collared gelding or mare at the coming Show was accepted with thanks, the prize to take the place of first prize in Class 42. It was also resolved to provide space for a non-competitive exhibit of harness by Mr. James Hull. Mr. Conlan offered a prize of one guinea for the best exhibit of maize, the most profitable to the farmer. It was resolved to purchase two turnstiles to complete the registers lately purchased for use at the coming Show. Mr. Terry promised two guineas for the best buckjumper rider at coming Show. It was decided, in response to the request of local cyclists, that if inducement offers, the Council will conduct a bicycle contest on the Show ground at next Show. It was resolved not to add a class for black colonial game fowls at coming Show, it being contended that the breed was dying out. Also that Mr. Geo. Davis be appointed an extra steward for poultry, and D. Carter as feeder and caretaker. It was also resolved that a competent person be employed to assist the Stewards in warning exhibiters re parading of stock, this Official to wear a distinctive dress. Also to invite tenders for a band. Also that in future no alteration of programme be made unless notified on the blackboard by the Secretary. The Committee's luncheon-room was then sold by Messrs. Guest and Skuthorp, the purchaser being Mr. P. Beveridge for £15. Improvements. The covered space at rear of Derby Stand has been converted into a large open shed for vehicles. The three buildings further north have been enlarged, enclosed with iron, fitted with very spacious tables, and will in future be used solely for farm produce. The work is being done by Mr. A. Johnston, and met with general approval, the one fear expressed being that even now it is doubtful if there will be sufficient space for farm produce.
