Hi all Time to get back into the genie research. Here is a really difficult one for me. A few years ago I did a book and tree on my ancestor Emmanuel Danero from Genoa who assumed the surname 'Neich' when he came to Australia in 1825. He became quite wealthy and had two wives - Mary Comer and Mary Parkinson and one girlfriend during the 1st marriage - Mary Cupitt. 25 children all told that we know of. He and Mary Cupitt were the g-grandparents of Donald Bradman, cricketer. Emanuel did a lot of traveling around Sydney, made sure his children married well. He had the Bath Arms at Burwood, plus properties further afield where he wld have met Mary Cupitt around the Hawkesbury we think. at any rate there is another whole line of Neich's still living in, and originating in, the Windsor / Hawkesbury district and we cannot trace their origins. They were always told they were from Emanuel. Here is what details I do have, and I hope someone from this list may be able tohelp unearth the rest - I live in Molong west of Orange and have a child with a disability so its difficult for me to get down to Sydney to do lengthy research. From oral recollections there are definitely 3 brothers, one of whom vanished, but two definitely named John and Alexander Neich and is substantiated several times over. Then came my research where I found 3 deaths of 3 men, same parents listed: John Neich d. 29.8.1948 Pitt Town (confirmed) the only birth I can find is John Leach 1860 Sofala Thomas Leach born 1862 Sofala, died 1919 Bathurst Alexander Neich died 10.7.1943 Neich Road Maraylya (confirmed). found a birth for Alexander Leach 1867 Wattle Flat, Bathurst. he married Emily Clarke, children all born at Windsor all 3 of above have listed as parents John Leach and Fanny (I think is Frances Lowe). there was another child on the BDMs (but this were not known by descendants at Windsor) so looks like from another father: Edward Naughton (to Fanny Lowe) 1869 Sofala died 1938 Bathurst I've had no success thru Lithgow or Bathurst family history groups and their records so thats a dead end, my only chance seems to be doing more around Windsor. So I then wondered whether these Neich/Leach 3 boys werent really Neich's but had adopted that name for some reason because they'd met Emanuel and saw he was rich ?? However, a reunion back in 1988, descendants of the Windsor lot were the spitting image of the Bath Arms lot, so............. None of the BDM certs I've bought shed any more light than the info above. The tree I have tentatively put together is: John LOWE 1811 Aberdeen Scotland, d. 8.4.1899 Wattle Flat m. Frances Carney 3 children - John, Alexander and Frances LOWE 1836, 1839, 1840 resp. Frances LOWE 1840-1892 m. 1859 John Leach (b. 1835 New York?) children = John Leach 1860, Thomas Leach 1862, Alexander Leach 1867 The names of Frances' sons would tie in with her brothers names but how did they get to NEICH?? thanks! Lina
