I recently saw a mention of the "Ask a Librarian Service" on one of these lists and thought I would tell listers what a great service this is. I logged onto their website and left my details, and the fact that I was looking for a newspaper article and death notice about someone killed in an accident on 30 Sep 1966. In a few days I had a phone call saying the wonderful people at the State Library had found both a news report and a death notice in the Newcastle Herald, and that the cost would be $5.50. I remarked that this was very reasonable and the librarian said that lots of people didn't think so! She then sent me an email stating date and page numbers of the articles , and a downloadable form which I filled out and sent off with my money on Tuesday. Today I received the copies in the mail. What a great service this is for physically "challenged" people like me who can no longer get to the State Library or SAG etc. The cost goes up by the number of pages copied, but, from memory I think that 50 pages costs about $13.00 - very reasonable I thought The URL is [email protected] Marie -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
