    3. Listers who are able, are invited to attend the next Hawkesbury family History Group meeting, which will be held on Wednesday 13th September at 10am. The speaker will be Janette Pelosi from State Records NSW. Janette will be discussing "Murder Most Foul: tales from the courts, Police & other records". This talk will highlights useful records relating to criminal cases held by State Records, the New South Wales government’s archives. Records such as Police Gazettes, Judges’ notebooks, gaol records, court depositions and transcripts are included plus more. Three case studies show what kinds of information may be found in the State archives. Inspector Peter Prosser was murdered in 1839. Martha Rumpf was charged with murder and attempted murder in 1871. Doleen Maud La Barte and Constable Frederick Mitchell were murdered in 1920. Join us to hear their tales of ‘murder most foul’. Janette Pelosi is currently Acting Senior Archivist, Access and Information at the Western Sydney Records Centre. She has worked as an archivist for State Records since 1990 and has worked in various areas of within State Records. Janette is a keen family historian who has been researching her own family history for more than 18 years. The meeting is held in the Tebbutt Room of Hawkesbury Central Library at 300 George Street, Windsor.
