    3. In response to Heather's query h_o_green@hotmail.com "Is the cemetery still in Council or Church hands? My Daniel family is buried there. What would a private owner want with a cemetery?" Unfortunately over the years the various church authorities have sold off property which is no longer viable for them to operate. This has happened in quite a few instances in the Hawkesbury where churches have been closed to lack of congregations and eventually sold, including several in the Macdonald Valley plus St. Phillip's Anglican Church at North Richmond, Comleroy Road Methodist Cemetery, St. Thomas Anglican Church, Sackville. People purchase these and often make use of the church building as a house or B&B, whilst cemeteries are fenced off and the surrounding land used for whatever. There are several churches recently on the market including one at Lower Portland. Cemeteries under Care, Control & Management of Hawkesbury City Council are as follows: 1. Richmond Lawn Cemetery 2. Pitt Town General Cemetery 3. Lower Portland Cemetery 4. St Albans New General Cemetery 5. Wilberforce General Cemetery 6. Windsor Catholic Cemetery 7. St Albans Old General Cemetery 8. General Cemetery on the Macdonald River 9. Richmond Presbyterian Cemetery 10. Sackville Reach Cemetery 11. Half Moon Farm Cemetery 12. South Windsor Presbyterian Cemetery 13. McGraths Hill Methodist Cemetery 14. Bilpin Cemetery (not in use) Cemeteries such as Ebenezer Cemetery, St. Peter's Anglican Cemetery Richmond and St. Matthew's Anglican Cametery in Windsor are still operated by the church.
