    3. Hi Coralie, No I haven't heard that. Don't like the sound of it. I have a description from my Grandmother Walker who was a child at the time, how she & her older sister watched it burn from their farm on the other side of the River, so it has always had a fascination for me .Our common relative - my G/G/Uncle & your cousin 1R - Frank Hearne is buried there, also his Dad. It's been so well preserved, let's hope it doesn't disappear like so many other things. In 1983 my Grandmother wrote some reminiscences for me. In part of it she says - "Across the valley there stood - and still stands to-day - an old Catholic Church beautifully built of local stone. It lost its roof in a bush-fire. Before losing its roof a visiting priest would from time to time come to celebrate mass there for the catholic community. My sister Queenie and I watched with dismay as the roof fiercely burned away. Within its grounds are a few headstones where once some few Catholics were buried. One well known to me was my uncle Frank Hearne" A visit to St Albans won't be the same if it disappears. Hope we can find out what is happening to it.
