    3. Morning All On a visit to St Albans in September we met up with Carol Gregory nee Jurd and were discussing the ruined Chapel of Our Lady of Loreto which is on her property.  Carol had been approached to sell that Chapel, or to at least enter negotiations which would allow it to be restored [which is a dream of hers].  Nothing is being done about it at present. During this conversation she did tell us that St Joseph's Church and Cemetery had been sold recently.  She didn't know any more than that at the time. Peter Stewart  researching Jurd, Tomlins, Stewart and any associated families - Today's Topics:    1. ST. JOSEPHS CHURCH AND CEMETERY (Coralie Hird)    2. Re: ST. JOSEPHS CHURCH AND CEMETERY (Norma  McLean) Hi All, I've heard a rumour that the ruins of the St. Joseph's Church and Cemetery at Central MacDonald have been sold recently.  Can anyone confirm this please? Don't like the sound of it.  I have a description from my Grandmother Walker who was a child at the time, how she & her older sister watched it burn from their farm on the other side of the River, so it has always had a fascination for me .Our common relative - my G/G/Uncle & your  cousin 1R -   Frank Hearne is buried there, also his Dad.  It's been so well preserved, let's hope it doesn't disappear like so many other things. In 1983 my Grandmother wrote some reminiscences for me. In part of it she says - "Across the valley there stood - and still stands to-day - an old Catholic Church beautifully built of local stone. It lost its roof in a bush-fire. Before losing its roof a visiting priest would from time to time come to celebrate mass there for the catholic community. My sister Queenie and I watched with dismay as the roof fiercely burned away. Within its grounds are a few headstones where once some few Catholics were buried. One well known to me was my uncle Frank Hearne" A visit to St Albans won't be the same if it disappears. Hope we can find out what is happening to it.
