Hello Ray and Lynette In 1829, my 3rd great grandfather, John Ross, bought 100 acres of the Newington estate from John Rotton. I have 2nd great grandparents, Michael and Maria O'Leary buried in the Queen St Catholic Cemetery in Singleton and when I was photographing their headstone, I came across headstones for the McMenamin family and one for a Parmeter, which I photographed, because I knew someone researching the two families. The Parmeter headstone is for Jane Meredith Parmeter, died 25 July 1892, aged 2 years and 9 months. I believe she was the daughter of Thomas Parmeter (not the doctor) and Mary McMenamin. Little Jane Meredith Parmeter must have been a descendant of Dr Thomas Parmeter and Jane Meredith. We all seem to have connections in some way. ...... A bit off the beaten track I realise , but I wonder if John Rotten was related to a 'Henry Rotton' who delivered mail between Bathurst and Carcoar around the 1850's ... I only came across the name 'Rotton' last week as I am trying to work out who the poor soul was who ran over and killed little Susanna Mary NORTH in 1855 .... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jan Koperberg" <jank@eftel.com.au> To: <aus-nsw-hills-hawkesbury-hunter-valley@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 27, 2009 11:41 AM Subject: Re: [HHHV] Dr Parmeter & ROTTON > Hello Ray and Lynette > > In 1829, my 3rd great grandfather, John Ross, bought 100 acres of the > Newington estate from John Rotton.
