Hi Peter, Patrick Ahern c. 1827-1882 was married to Sarah LYNCH 1832-1902. Sarah was the daughter of John LYNCH c. 1790-1852 and Sarah Tunney nee PENDERGAST 1806-1873. They lived in the Wollombi area and had at least 2 children. Thomas b. 1861/14181 Wollombi & Mary Anne b. 1863/14828 Wollombi d. 19.5.1864. Thomas married Catherine Phillip or Phillby 1885/7473 and had several children. John Lynch was born in Ireland and was a convict who arrived in 1813 on the "Archduke Charles" and was employed by Thomas Pendergast. John Lynch ended up with Sarah, sister to Thomas. Sarah was also the daughter of Irish convict John Pendergast who arrived in 1800 on the "Minerva" and Jane Williams, also a convict who arrived in 1801 on the "Nile" Sarah was originally married/defacto to Patrick Tunney and had 2 children Bridget and Catherine. When Tunney died in 1824 Sarah married/defacto John Lynch and they had a large family inclduing Mary, Margaret, Saah, John, Elizabeth, Thomas, Frederick, William, Honorah, Ellen and Patrick. These families lived in the Wollombi district and are married into various other pioneering families in that area. There is more information in "Mines, Wines & People" by W. S. Parkes and the "Australian Biographical & Genealogical Record (ABGR) Series I 1788-1841" I am descended from Bridget Tunney and there are number of listers descended from the above families. I am trying to establish whether this Sarah LYNCH was the lass who was working for Mrs. DACRE on Kennington Farm at Hexham in 1845.... may have been the sister of my GG grandmother Mary Ann LYNCHEY
