Firstly, thank you everyone for replying to my request. This might be annoying but I will reply to everyone > From: "Bill" < oldboybill@westnet.com.au> > Subject: Re: [HHHV] CHARLOTTE AUGUSTA PEARCE/JAMES SMITH >DESCENDANTS & > INFO > Date: Mon, 30 Nov 2009 06:58:07 +1100 > References: 001e01ca712a$8d7fab80$f750bc7c@anderson > Dear Kelly, > Have you looked on the Parish maps for the property? > There would have been an Inquest because of the head injury, so have you > looked for a news report of this? One piece of information I found indicated that he was granted 40 acres (of an orchard) at Baulkham Hills around 1855 but I am not 100% if this is the same place as "Bellevue" where he died in 1863. I have found the newspaper article regarding the head injury and the coronial inquest. I have not checked his probate packet (if any) at Kingswood. In reply to Lesley: > James Smith was a convict. Thanks for confirming this. I had found the 2 James Smith's on the Indefatigable but wasn't 100% that it was him. Now I will be able to find his records at the Old Bailey. Can I ask where you found the record regarding James seeking permission to marry Charlotte. I have not come across this. Kelly
